Contact lenses are a great alternative to wearing glasses. They offer better perepheral vison and allow patients to participate in sports with out hinderance of wearing glasses.
If you are considering wearing contact lenses, please notify your doctor when you schedule your eye exam. At your examination the doctor will find optimal material and wearing schedule for your particular prescription.
After the refraction where Dr. Zabarko determines your prescription she will discuss what lenses will benifit your vision. Contact lenses come in daily disposable, two week disposable or monthly options. They are available in spherical, toric (correcting for astigmatism), multifocal (for those over 40 needing both near and distance correction).
The doctor will give you trial lenses for a week and then bring you back for a follow up to finalize the prescription.
It is important for the lenses to fit properly on your eyes. Improper fits can cause corneal irratation, blur in vision and even corneal ulcers. Before dispensing the lenses our doctor will make sure the fit and vision is opitmal.
We also offer specialty scleral lenses that correct patients with keratoconus, a progressive thinning of the cornea.
